Chabana

Chabana

Japanese Tea Ceremony floral arrangement
Flower arrangement can be enjoyable with simplicity. We learn about seasonal flower arrangement (chabana 茶花) for the Japanese tea ceremony. In this class, we discuss and demonstrate the Chabana arrangement while learning about local seasonal flowers and how to use them. We arrange a bundle of flowers and create a simple arrangement of Chabana. We learn the thought process of creation in Chabana which identifies the difference between Ikebana or modern flower arrangements. Chabana respects how flowers grow in nature instead of starting with a frame of arrangement. This class will help you to create your own Chabana flower arrangement in a modern lifestyle. We invite you to a Chabana class at a Japanese tea house for a full cultural experience. At the end of class, you will decorate your Chabana at the alcove area (tokonoma 床の間) in an authentic Japanese tea room.
